School Priorities 2016-17

Strategic Plan and Structure

“By nurturing their exceptional talent, children at Pevensey and Westham School will be self-assured, inquisitive learners who embrace challenge, celebrate success and exceed their expected potential.

This inclusive, respectful and encouraging school will deliver excellence for all and by upholding the Christian faith and beliefs will build an environment in which all children will flourish and grow into amazing individuals.”

The school vision fronts the strategic plan and leads to 6 priorities linked to the OfSTED framework

Priority 1 – Leadership & management

Aims: To increase the effectiveness of leadership at all levels in achievement and driving school improvement.  To build leadership capacity.

Priority 2 – Teaching, learning & assessment

Aims: To improve teaching so that it is consistently good with a high proportion that is outstanding.  To improve learning so that all pupils make consistently good progress, learn in depth, are well prepared for the next phase of education and the majority achieve higher than age-related expectations.  To embed assessment at the heart of effective teaching and learning so that all pupils make consistently good or better progress

Priority 3 – Pupils’ personal development, behaviour & welfare

Aims: To achieve our vision to ensure pupils are “self-assured, inquisitive learners who embrace challenge, celebrate success and exceed their expected potential.”  To prepare pupils for the next phase of education and to be life-long learners.  To ensure pupils are safe and well cared for in school

Priority 4 – Outcomes

Aim: To raise achievement by rapidly accelerating the rate of progress for all groups of pupils.

Priority 5 – EYFS

Aims: To rapidly accelerate all pupils’ progress to raise achievement.  To raise boys’ achievement in writing, in particular.
